“I had just received my baptism date when I met Kade on Mutual. I wasn’t specifically looking for a husband at that time, but God’s plan usually looks a lot different than how we think it should, doesn’t it?
After getting to know each other for a week or so over the phone, he drove 3 hours to take me on our first date. We made it official one year ago today. A few weeks later I got baptized. If I didn’t have Kade in my life at that time, I can’t imagine what my first few months as a new convert would’ve looked like. With the hateful messages I got daily from friends and family stating their disappointment because I’d become a Latter-day Saint, anyone else might have wanted to just run. But because Kade was placed in my life, there was never a question of chickening out. He helped me know how loved I was both by my Heavenly Father and him. He helped me see beyond the current pain, but helped me see life from an eternal perspective.
I got lucky and found my husband before I was even baptized. But I truly believe it’s because God knew. He knew how rough the road would be, and he wanted me to see just how sweet blessings can be when you choose to trust Him with your life. I’ve said it a lot that I prayed for a husband like Kade years before I even officially started investigating the church. But once I started trusting the spirit to guide me, those prayers started being answered.
Hard times always come, but they also pass. I’m so grateful that one year ago Kade made it official and asked me to be his girlfriend. I know the Savior better because I know Kade. I am a better person because of him.
Mutual is where it’s at y’all, because he was my first match and he ended up being my husband. I had been on Mutual all of one hour when Kade and I matched, and six months later we were married!” – Hannah
