Why is verification important?
Sometimes it can be hard to know for sure if the person you’re chatting with is who they say they are. Verification is a great way to add an extra layer of safety to your dating interactions on Mutual! Make sure your profile is verified, and ask those you match with to verify their profile as well.
Keep in mind verification is a simple process of verifying a user matches their profile photos. It does not automatically mean that user is a good person, so always follow the tips outlined our Online Dating 101 blog post HERE.

How to Get Verified:
- Open your Mutual App
- Go to “Profile” and scroll down to “Account Verification”
- Follow the steps to complete the verification process. (You will choose one of the pre-approved poses and submit a photo in that pose.)
- Our team will then review the photo and verify your account. On average, this takes about 48 hours.
When others on the app see your profile, they will notice a pink check mark on your profile, indicating that you are a Verified User!

Required Verification
Previously, verification was not required to have a Mutual profile. But, to make Mutual a place where you can date as safely as possible, we will soon require verification for all profiles, meaning anyone who creates a new profile must be verified before they can start swiping.
For the safety of our community, all non-verified profiles will need to verify in order to be seen by others. Any previously created profiles that are not verified will not be shown to other people until verified, so you will not get any matches until your profile is verified.
If you have additional questions, please send us a message by going to “Settings” and “Help and FAQ” in your Mutual app.
